CAD Designer
SUMMARY
The CAD Designer designs dies, fixture, models, extrusions, assembly fixtures and bend aids using CAD software — maintaining quality, delivery dates and productivity requirements at all times.
REQUIREMENTS for the position:
- Education required: High school diploma or equivalency.
- Experience required: Minimum 5 years on the job or equivalent experience as a CAD Designer. Minimum 5 years UG experience. Minimum 2 years CATIA experience.
- Skills, knowledge or abilities: Read, write & speak the English language fluently.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Design dies, fixtures, models, extrusions & pull sections
- Design assembly fixtures & bend aids
- Surface scan data (laser and point cloud)
- Create plots and overlays
- Create 3D surface from 2D plots
- Quote changes in tooling
- Fill out set up sheets for milling
- Help run and program mills when department is short-handed
- Develop how to machine complex parts
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and conversions, statistical data and apply concepts such as whole numbers and fractions, ratios and proportions and work with measurement devices.
- Ability to work with and convert units of production and convert those units to dollars.
- Ability to accurately identify and analyze trends.
- A strong commitment to success with a “can do / will do” attitude.
- Technical experience with engineered products.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively – both orally and in writing as well as strong listening skills.
- Working knowledge and proficiency to effectively utilize Microsoft Office, UG and CATIA.
- High level of ability with database, spreadsheets or other analysis tools, excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure in a multi-task environment.
- Assure 100% accuracy of all CAD design work prior to release to the manufacturing floor.
- Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities concurrently, work with practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
