Experi-Metal Supports Alternative Energy Manufacturing

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011 | Posted in Articles

There is no doubt that alternative energy solutions are important to not only protect our environment, but also decrease our dependence on the limited resources that exist.   As alternative energy technologies continue to develop, there becomes an increasing need for alternative energy manufactures to create engineering prove outs and pre-production units.

Experi-Metal has the experienced team and cutting edge equipment to meet virtually all alternative energy manufacturing needs.  Battery boxes, solar panels, and windmill structures are just a few of the alternative energy manufacturing applications we have proudly produced.

The Experi-Metal team understands the unique needs of each item we produce.  When manufacturing battery boxes, our team works to develop products that are air tight, leak tested, and withstand penetration in case of accidents.  Additionally, we are also experienced with lightweight materials including various aluminum alloys and many advanced high strength steels, in order to not significantly increase the mass of the vehicle.

As a Michigan-based company serving clients across the country and globe, Experi-Metal values our alternative energy manufacturing relationships.  We are happy to play a part in the development of technologies that will reduce the carbon footprints and traditional energy dependencies of individuals and corporations alike.

Low Volume Production of Prototypes and Parts

While prototype production always requires low volumes, there are many instances when small quantities of other items are needed.  Most suppliers and manufacturers are only capable of producing these parts in large volumes.  Experi-Metal specializes in the creation of prototypes, along with low volume production of metal stampings, trim moldings, specialty items and sub-assemblies.

Our forward thinking team of innovators has been able to design and implement processes to make low volume production a reality, and within your budget.  Not only is Experi-Metal able to produce these items, we go the extra mile to deliver a quality product, on-time, to your exact specifications!  Our commitment to customer satisfaction from start to finish is unparalleled.

During a recent launch by an OEM manufacture on a current production model, problems with several parts were discovered.  While this company worked with their production suppliers to make these changes, a 16 week process, they needed a short-term solution.  The OEM enlisted Experi-Metal to produce a short run of these parts during that vital 4 month period.  Experi-Metal reacted to the situation and had parts available within 2 days and continued supporting until the production supplier was back on-line.

When companies need immediate solutions like this, they turn to Experi-Metal.  To learn more about our prototype and low volume production services, contact us today!

Experi-Metal Follows the Best Practices of Sheet Metal Forming

One of the many capabilities Experi-Metal offers is sheet metal forming.  The materials that we form include steel, stainless steel, aluminum and many other high strength and exotic metals.

The process of sheet metal forming is accomplished by deforming the material and changing its original shape.  The metal is stressed beyond its yield strength, but below its tensile strength, with little change to the actual surface itself.  When forming sheet metal, the inner surface is compressed while the outer surface is stretched.

A variety of shapes can be produced using our in house forming and stamping equipment.  The metal is placed on the die, positioned in place with stops or gages, then held in place while the press descends and forms the desired shape.  The process is overseen by our expert team who ensure the form is made to the precise specifications given.

Don’t trust your sheet metal forming needs with just anyone.  The experts at Experi-Metal have the knowledge and experience to make sure all parts are properly created for the best results in the business.  Contact us today.  We’d be happy to discuss your sheet metal forming needs.
